Teen's Death Sparks Controversy in Shahjahanpur

In Shahjahanpur district, the suspicious death of a 16-year-old boy has led to a renewed investigation after his family rejected the police's claim of suicide. According to police sources, the incident occurred last Thursday in Kunwarpur village, located in the Puwaiyan police jurisdiction, where Apurv Awasthi, a 10th-grade student, was shot under unclear circumstances while returning home from school.

Initially, the boy's uncle filed a complaint against four relatives at the local police station. However, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi later informed reporters that the case appeared to be a suicide. He noted that there was a land dispute between Apurv's uncle and another relative, and certain aspects of the scene raised suspicions when police arrived.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Apurv had shot himself with a country-made firearm. This was also corroborated by the post-mortem report. Nevertheless, on Monday evening, the deceased's father, Manish Awasthi, met with the Superintendent of Police to file a written complaint, alleging that his son's death was a murder linked to a romantic relationship. He named nine individuals, including relatives, as suspects in the case.

The Superintendent confirmed the receipt of the complaint during a conversation with reporters on Tuesday, stating that a comprehensive re-investigation would be conducted. He emphasized that strict directives had been issued for an in-depth inquiry, assigning the task to Praveen Malik, the area officer for Puwaiyan.
